Kids love fishing! Teaching a child to fish and enjoy the outdoors can be a very rewarding experience.

Want to get kids involved in fishing? As a parent there are a variety of ways to do this. You can visit a local fishing pier, tackle shop or contact your local fishing club.

Many fishing clubs have annual kid’s day events and is a wonderful way to bring together the family for a healthy outdoor experience.

What to bring

Below are a few good items to help make the day as enjoyable as it should be:

  • sunblock
  • sunglasses
  • hat
  • light jackets
  • hand towel a simple short rod and reel – less likely to walk it into obstacles
  • small knife
  • needle nose pliers
  • nail clippers (for cutting line)
  • digital camera
  • cooler
  • ice
  • drinking water
  • snacks
  • a bucket, zip-lock bags and/or a tote bag (to put all this in!)

Taking the kids fishing is a fun moment for all that can prove to highly rewarding. Being able to watch them catch their fish with what’s always a big smile on their face is priceless for any parent to see.
